There are still a few months left until the May long weekend, but it's worth thinking now about how and where to spend these few days off. We'd like to suggest a trip to Szklarska Poręba, where in spring you can actively spend time with family or friends, take a break from everyday duties and relax in the bosom of nature. It is also a great opportunity to take advantage of comfortable accommodation in an intimate guesthouse in Szklarska PorębaDom pod Koziołkami, which offers cozy and comfortable rooms with a view of the Polish mountains and many additional attractions that will delight both adults and children.
Szklarska Poręba, located right next to the Karkonosze Mountains, is a popular tourist destination all year round. It is particularly popular during long May weekend, when tourists from all over Poland arrive. In May, the local landscapes are incredibly beautiful. The mountains spreading over the town, beautiful waterfalls, unique vegetation, the rays of the first warm sun, blooming flowers, and the greenery of the meadows encourage admiring the landscapes, walking, or cycling. Most attractions in Szklarska Poręba and the surrounding area are related to nature. Worth seeing in May two waterfalls. The first of them, Szklarki, is a cascade falling from a rocky ledge from a height of approximately 13 meters. It can be reached by following the green or black hiking trail. The second is the highest waterfall in the Karkonosze Mountains, the Kamieńczyk Waterfall, with a height of 27 meters. It can be reached by following the red or black trail. Behind the water curtain lies a carved rock cave, the Golden Cave. It is also worth visiting the Red Cave, a 4-meter-high cave that was created during pegmatite mining. It is worth spending a May weekend actively, especially since the weather is usually favorable for outdoor activities during this period. Around Szklarska Poręba, there is many hiking trails. One of these is the route to the Kamieńczyk Waterfall (red trail, then black), which takes about 2 hours. During this hike, you can visit the impressive rock formations of Krzywe Baszty and Krucze Skały. The Szklarka Waterfall is reached via a slightly longer route (3 hours), which passes through the gorge of the Kamienna River and the Szklarka Stream. Along the way, you can admire the rock towers and the Red Cave. The Zakręt Śmierci trail offers breathtaking views of the Jizera Mountains and the Karkonosze Mountains.
