Skiing in Szklarska Poręba. How to plan a trip?

Winter fun on the slopes is a must-do during a mountain vacation. Skiing or snowboarding can be a lot of fun for both children and adults, so a winter trip to the mountains is worth planning for the whole family. Skiing is a sport that engages almost every muscle group, improving endurance and fitness. Skiing not only has a positive impact on the respiratory and circulatory systems, but also helps you lose weight, improves coordination (and well-being!), and shapes your figure. This begs the question – where to go skiing? Szklarska Poręba, of course!

Szklarska Poręba is a true paradise for skiers

Szklarska Poręba is one of the largest and best-organized ski resorts in the Karkonosze Mountains. The city is visited every year by hundreds of tourists seeking the best ski slopes. And there's no shortage of them in the area! The most popular ski resort is Ski Arena Szrenica, which offers 12 km of regularly snowed slopes. The Szrenica Ski Arena boasts five slopes of varying difficulty levels, ensuring both beginners and advanced skiers will be satisfied. Three cable cars and five ski lifts lead to the summit of Szrenica. However, that's just the beginning. Beginners will certainly enjoy Wesoła Górka, with its gentle slopes – an on-site ski school is available. Other recommended ski resorts in the area include the Valley of Happiness, the Pietkiewiczówka Ski Resort, and the Nartolandia slope – perfect for learning to ski for children and adults. Individual ski lifts, such as Cross, Biała Polana, and U Romeka, are also worth mentioning. The sheer number of diverse slopes in Szklarska Poręba is impressive, so everyone is sure to find something suitable. Remember to choose slopes with a difficulty level appropriate for your skill level and pay attention to the technical infrastructure. Pay particular attention to parking, dining options, and ski rentals.

How to organize your dream ski trip?

But skiing isn't the only attraction waiting for us in Szklarska Poręba. After a day of skiing, you can take a stroll along one of the many charming hiking trails, visit the famous Kamieńczyk Waterfall, visit the Museum of the Earth, or take your little ones to the Dinopark. There's no way you'll be bored in Szklarska Poręba. However, a ski trip shouldn't be preceded by just choosing the slopes and additional attractions. The most important thing is to book the right hotel. First of all, let's check the resort's location – ideally, it should be close to the ski slopes or in their immediate vicinity. If you can't get to the slopes on foot from your hotel and don't have your own car, a guesthouse offering ski bus transportation to the slopes is a good option. The hotel should provide tourists with ski storage space.  Let's also check the room standard – after all, we need to feel comfortable while resting. It is worth paying attention to guesthouse in Szklarska Poręba, offering access to SPA. The opportunity to use a pool or spa after a strenuous activity on the slopes is the best way to relax and unwind! An economically attractive option is to take advantage of packages offered by the most popular hotels and guesthouses. The holiday package includes several holiday elements such as accommodation, meals and additional attractions in one price. The most sensible meal plan for a ski trip is two meals – breakfast and dinner. You'll typically spend several hours on the slopes from morning until late afternoon, so half-board meals will be the most appropriate option. Finally, of course, there's the matter of preparing your equipment. Skis and boots can be rented, which is the best option for beginners. More advanced skiers who have already found their skiing style and regularly hit the slopes in winter can invest in their own equipment. Let's remember to properly maintain our equipment before the start of each season. Clothing is also important – thermal underwear, a waterproof jacket, and decent pants. Ski pants are available with either a microporous or hydrophilic membrane and can be two- or three-layer. If you have any doubts about the appropriateness of a particular garment, it's worth asking a store employee. When going skiing, it is also worth investing in additional travel insurance.
